WHY BIODEGRADABLE GOWNS?

A GLIMPSE INTO OUR PPE GOWNS

Our landfills have seen a very large increase with plastic products due to COVID-19. Medical gowns, face masks, shoe covers, gloves and other PPE products have flooded our landfills all over the world. The PPE products will sit in our landfills for 400+ years. If hospitals and medical fields were to use biodegradable gowns, they would decompose in the same time as a landfill’s lifespan. The main benefit from using these biodegradable gowns is that there is no adjustment in how you would treat them compared to a regular PPE gown. Since they are being discarded the same way as a regular gown, it would benefit the landfill’s decomposing longevity.
