Pristine Pleating - FLOR ET.AL
The History of Pleating
Pleating (french origin. Plisse) is the antique technique to manipulate the shape of fabric, thus creating the material to become fuller.
Originated in ancient Egypt, pleating was a technique used to decorate tunics of the powerful and wealthy. This was due to the long process of hand pleating. Once washed it would sadly disappear.
Now modern technology such as machine pleating or methods such as edge or top stitching, chemically set pleating, etc. allow modern clothes, curtains, bedding, etc. to last past a mere washing cycle.
