As the the last holiday of the year comes around, people look for ways to celebrate the new year in style. Whether the holiday is celebrated in a party, restaurant, or sometimes houses, people tend to go more dressed up than usual. In this week’s blog we take a look into the history of dressing up elegantly for New Years Eve, what celebrities wore, and a look into some of our swatches that have given us inspiration for the holiday.

Dressing for New Year's Eve

Glitter, glam, and midnight magic — the perfect NYE vibe in one aesthetic collage.

New years is more than just finding an excuse to wear new dress with of shiny sequins and a new pair of high heels. For some, one’s outfit for the holiday is all about a statement of intention and less about trends or fitting in. One’s look symbolizes embracing a fresh start, and new opportunities that could happen in the upcoming year. One dresses in sparkles as a symbol of welcoming the next year with a bright and shiny start. Some also wear white for spiritual reasons in hopes to find peace in the new year.

NYE-Inspired Swatches

A collage of twelve textured surfaces arranged in a grid, showcasing a variety of materials and patterns.

An exploration of textures—pleated, furry, metallic, woven, and more—capturing the diversity of tactile surfaces in fabric and design.

We pulled out some swatches from our swatch room that we imagined these being incorporated in some New Years Eve Outfits. We think including swatches like these are a great way to add a little bit of sparkle in 2024. New years eve is the perfect occasion for wearing gold and silver details like shown in the swatches above as this is the opportunity to leave one year and enter a new one in illumination, style, and glamour.
